How are we?
From a personal involvement of some current board members and volunteers in development projects in Kenya, the Jambo Hakuna Matata Foundation was established in 2009. From the moment of the official establishment, there has been a great involvement of a growing group of people. This applies to both the people who are actually active in the work area and to those who support the work of the foundation in any other way or otherwise have a warm heart. The activities are concentrated in and around the city of Nyeri, a city located 150 km north of the capital Nairobi.
Board
Currently, the board of the Jambo Hakuna Matata foundation consists of:
Mr. L.L.I.M. Rutten, chairman
Mrs. I.J.M. Waterval-Rutten, treasurer
Mr. R.W.H.M. Rouvroije, board member
M.A. Smeelen, board member
All board members perform their duties without any form of compensation.
Vision
The vision of the Jambo Hakuna Matata Foundation is derived from the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC). This convention was adopted by the United Nations in 1989. All activities that the foundation undertakes or supports in its working area are therefore related to the right to Housing, Education and Care. Every child entrusted to the care of the foundation has a place to live, can go to school and to a doctor if necessary.
Mission
The mission of the Jambo Hakuna Matata Foundation (JHM) is to create conditions that guarantee the right to housing, education and care (WOZ) for underprivileged children and the disabled. This is the starting point for all projects in which Jambo Hakuna Matata is involved to this day. From realizing a residential facility (Jambo Rescue Home in 2014) to the material and immaterial support of schools and medical care facilities. All this with the aim of giving the young people entrusted to our care a foundation with which they can independently organize their further lives.
ANBI status
Since January 1, 2011, the Jambo Hakuna Matata Foundation has been designated as a ‘Public Benefit Organization’, abbreviated ANBI, by the Directorate-General for Tax and Customs Administration of the Ministry of Finance. What are the biggest advantages for a private individual or company to support a foundation with ANBI status, such as the Jambo Hakuna Matata Foundation?
1) If you make a donation or give (part of) your inheritance to the Jambo Hakuna Matata Foundation, the Jambo Hakuna Matata Foundation will not pay any inheritance or gift tax on it.
2) If you donate something to the Jambo Hakuna Matata Foundation, you may deduct that donation/gift from your income or corporate tax. This makes it even more attractive to support us.
